Customer Review: Connects my laptop to HDMI projector
I just bought a projector which doesn’t have DVI input, so I bought this cable to get a digital video signal from my laptop (from DVI on laptop to HDMI on projector). I’m glad I chose this - it seems to be working well, no problems.
Customer Review: Outstanding
Great price and fast delivery. The only gripe I have is with the technology itself not the product. This was for an older Sony rear projection screen and sometimes the HDCP “handshakes” don’t always coordinate well. Overall, does the job, good quality cable, please don’t be fooled by Monster or anything ridiculously expensive.

Electronic Fraud and the Ultimate Password

One of the most popular biometric scanning methods is fingerprint recognition. Fingerprint readers have started to be invluded in keyboards, peripherals and even cell phones. Furthermore, fingerprint data was recently deemed as the most appropriate to be included in biometric passports. So, naturally, one has to wonder if fingerprint recognition is indeed as safe as some people claim and if it can really protect us.

Biometric recognition is not something new. We have been using it in our everyday lives for ages! We recognize other people by their facial characteristics, or their voice over the phone. This of course, assumes that we already know the person. The problems start to arise when we expect machines to do things that humans were designed to do. Read more »

Griffin iMic / USB Audio Interface

Griffin iMic / USB Audio Interface iMic was the original USB audio adapter that enabled Mac and PC users to add stereo input and output to their USB computers that, otherwise, lacked the necessary hardware support. iMic allows you to connect virtually any microphone or sound input device to your iBook, PowerBook, PowerMac or other Mac or PC systems with a USB port. iMic supports both mic and line level inputs via a selectable switch, as well as a variable level output for connecting speakers or headphones.iMic’s audio is superior to most computers’ built-in audio because it uses USB for the audio signal. USB isolates the audio signal from the noisy electronics in your computer, giving you higher quality sound when you record, and higher quality sound output for external speakers.iMic shines as the essential tool for converting your old LPs and tapes into MP3s and CDs. Griffin’s audio recording software Final Vinyl for Mac OS X (provided for free exclusively to iMic owners) makes recording old records and tapes super easy, with several advanced features such as waveform-based cue editing and built-in 10-band EQ. Final Vinyl can also equalize LPs without having to connect a turntable to a pre-amp. Just hook the turntable directly to the iMic, and Final Vinyl will record your LPs perfectly.iMic, now updated for modern hardware, provides the perfect solution for almost any audio need.
Customer Review: What’s that whooshing air sound?
I bought one of these and tested it out compared to the audio-in jack on my PowerMac.

Sony Cybershot DSCW120/B 7.2MP Digital Camera with 4x Optical Zoom with Super Steady Shot (Black)

Sony Cybershot DSCW120/B 7.2MP Digital Camera with 4x Optical Zoom with Super Steady Shot (Black) The 7.2-Megapixel Cyber-shot(R) W120 features innovative Smile Shutter technology, which photographs smiles as they happen. A Carl Zeiss 4x optical zoom lens provides high quality close-ups, while Sony’s Double Anti-Blur solution gives you crisp, clear images. The advanced Sony Super HAD(TM) (Hole Accumulated Diode) CCD design allows more light to pass to each pixel, increasing sensitivity and reducing noise. Because an off-center subject can make your shot more interesting, a 9-point auto focus measures the focus at 9 precision points instead of 5 giving you greater creative freedom to compose your image. The large, bright 2.5″ TFT LCD display makes it easy to compose shots, check results, and read menus in sharp natural color, even in bright sunlight. Face Detection technology automatically controls focus, exposure, color, and flash to help reveal faces in shadows, make skin tones look more natural, reduce red-eye, and eliminate harsh facial glare, so your photos bring out every expression on every face in every shot. Super SteadyShot(R) Image Stabilization compensates for shaky hands and minimizes blur with optical sensors that detect camera movement and send correcting signals to a stabilization lens. Aperture Range - Auto (F2.8-F14 with ND Filter) / Program Auto (F2.8-F14 with ND Filter) Shutter Speed - Auto (1/4 - 1/1,600) / Program Auto (1 - 1/1,600) Flash Modes - Auto, Forced On, Forced Off, and Slow Synch Movie Modes - MPEG VX Fine with Audio (640×480 at 30fps), MPEG VX Standard with Audio (640×480 at 16fps), Presentation (320 x 240 at 8fps) Scene Modes - Auto, Easy Shooting, Program Auto, Movie, High Sensitivity, Twilight, Twilight Portrait, Soft Snap, Landscape, Beach, Snow, Fireworks, and Smile Shutter Operating System - Microsoft 2000 Professional, Me, XP Home and Professional, Macintosh OS 9.1, 9.2, OS X (10.0-10.4)
Customer Review: great photos
This camera took great photos right out of the box. Just point and shoot. It’s controls were simple enough for my tech illeterate fiance to document getting ready for our wedding, and then our honeymoon to spain. It didn’t matter what time of day or night or the lighting conditions, the camera took beautifull pictures that rivaled my SLR. The smile function was interesting, aperantly you need a $100 smile to get the camera to snap your photo, but was a nice try on the engineers part. Very small and easy to put into a purse or even a pocket and not weight you down. Great camera.
Customer Review: Shopped around; would buy it again; but be aware of minor issues
Just bought this new from a local retailer. Did a lot of research online comparing this model to some of Canon’s compact cameras. I’m not a photography buff so I wanted something that was small and not necessarily the “best” but would still take nice pictures. I really like the features that it includes. The 4x zoom is greater than most at this price point, and even some more expensive cameras. Seems to have a lot of neat features, like the Smart Zoom (digital zoom without pixelation), multiple auto focus points, and ability to shoot 640×480 video. The face detection is pretty cool and seems to work really well. I thought about getting the DSC-W130 with its 8MP resolution and editing features, but figured that 8MP was more than I needed and I’d rather do my photo editing on the computer.
One or two “bugs” I’m aware of:
1. If you shoot using burst mode, you’ll find that you can’t turn the flash back on in any mode but Easy mode. You have to reset the camera back to factory defaults to shoot using the flash again. Even knowing this I would still buy the camera, but I’m hoping that enough people would alert Sony to this error to release a firmware update to fix it. Otherwise I would have given it five stars.
2. When you plug in the camera with the USB cable the lens may open, so be sure not to leave it face down when transferring data.
